Why I'm Running

Our "It City" has been experiencing tremendous growth over the last few years, and all indications are that the growth will continue. It's important now more than ever that we make decisions that will make Nashville a viable home for the benefit of everyone in our city.

As I've been visiting with you in District 26, we share many concerns and priorities, and here are some of the concerns I'm hearing with our city and District 26:

  • BUDGET: With our city experiencing such incredible growth, we have to make sure our budget priorities include fully funding our schools, police, first responders and our neighborhoods
  • We have to make tougher decisions and more responsible choices to ensure our long-term fiscal health. We have to plan for a future that includes financial viability

  • TRAFFIC: This has become a problem that affects everyone, because the traffic has come to our neighborhoods too. We have to make sure alleviating congestion on our interstates is our highest traffic priority so we can relieve the traffic in our neighborhoods
  • In District 26, we have to find calming solutions on our roads as well. With the interstate overspill, it’s not just neighbors driving in our neighborhoods any more, and we need to take traffic-calming steps

  • SCHOOLS: While the primary management of Metro Nashville Public Schools falls to the school board, the Council must have more input into the decision-making process. With the growth of our city, it’s essential that we also have a world-class school system. Both of my sons graduated from Metro Nashville Public Schools, so this issue hits close to home

  • WALKABILITY: Neighborhoods with sidewalks always seems to be an issue, and I will do everything I can to raise the level of this concern so our families can walk through our neighborhoods more safely and enjoy our community on foot

  • COMMUNICATION: I always be available at my home or business – both in District 26 – and I will always make responding to communication a top priority

Two of my favorite quotes are:

“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” – Jackie Robinson

“What you do speaks so loudly, I cannot hear what you say.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I pledge to be responsive to your concerns, communicate in a timely manner and always be available whether at my home at 5110 Kincannon Drive, or at my business at 491 Allied Drive. You can also call me at 615-972-9831.

I look forward to meeting many more of you, and I appreciate you considering me as your representative in the Metro Council in the election on August 1, 2019.
